MARLINESPIKE HITC=H

riginally, this hitch was used by sailors to pull on thin line or rope without it biting into
0 their hands. Instead of a marlinespike, any long tool, such as a spanner, can be used, as
demonstrated here. Once the knot is no longer needed, simply remove the tool and watch the
         hitch disappear.

Lay the spanner on top of a
I length of rope that has been
           fixed at one end.

                                                                Lift the rope upwards and
                                                             2 over the spanner.

                     Twist the spanner upwards,
                   3 in a clockwise directio n,
and insert its head behind the
                  standing part.
