   b         his  is  a useful  knot when a bulky stopper is needed. It is also  the knot that most people
   z      T use  when  they start  tying string around a parcel.  Because  it doesn't untie  easily,  overhand
   ~      loops generally  have  to  be  cut.

            Double one end  of the cord, i.e.,  make a   2 Form a loop in  the bight.
          I  bight in  one end  of a cord.

                              T ie an overhand knot,
                              taking care  to  keep .. th~e~~~~~~~~~~~~
                           knot parts parallel
                           throughout.





                                                                Tighten the  knot by
                                                             4 pulling on  each  of the four
                                                             parts of the cord in  turn.
