Nomination Recognition 2017
Report by Individual Nominee
CATEGORY: WHOLE SYSTEMS THINKER
NOMINEE NOMINATOR DEPARTMENT
Nathan Litton Geoffrey Belz Sales & Operations Planning 201100
Describe the situation or event related to the individual's or team's performance.
Consumer Excess and Idle Inventory had been a problem for over 5 years. Much of this issue was due to lack
of visibility, accuracy or identification of expiry dating on all US and Canadian finished good product. This led to
inaccurate data and reports, that were difficult to act upon by the leadership group and sales team. Nathan's
knowledge of multiple systems, SAP and the retail business eliminated all inaccuracies, and helped group
products by expiry dates. This identified potential inventory issues upstream, even before they became close
to expiry dating. It allowed the sales team to focus and sell off product and maximize profit for the enterprise. It
also helped reduce finished goods and bulk inventory significantly throughout 2017 as referenced above.
Describe in detail the individual's or team's notable behaviors.
Nathan's leadership did not stop at the reporting level. He worked to fix data or inventory inaccuracies in
multiple GOJO Distribution Centers. He communicated to Cost Accounting potential scrap or expired inventory
quantities, and worked collaboratively with the sales team by meeting and updating inventory reports on a
monthly basis. In addition to Whole Systems Thinking, he demonstrated a "Doing What it Takes" Mentality and
pulled multiple systems and processes together to generate significant, positive results.
What were the results of the individual’s or team’s behaviors?
Nathan's leadership helped reduce Consumer(CMR) Excess & Idle Inventory by over $500,000, and reduced
clearance product sales by $400,000, throughout 2017.
