Nomination Recognition 2017
Report by Cross Functional Team
CATEGORY: CROSS FUNCTIONAL TEAM AWARD
PROJECT: Human Factors Awareness Building-: Self-Directed Learning Module Team
CATEGORY: CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
NOMINATOR: Sharon Guten
1. Using a Design Thinking approach, the team conducted limited soft launches to
learn how to directly integrate learning activities right into the design of the teaching
content rather than having separate learning exercises after the completion of the
course, thereby enhancing the learning experience and reducing time and energy
for the learner.
2. The team found a way to reduce process steps, time, and effort when -- after ?in
what ways might we? thinking -- it discovered that it could repurpose the survey tool
featured in the new LMS as the way to introduce learning activities, online, to
accompany each of the three modules. As a result learners can complete the HF
course and learning activities on their own in a timely manner without relying on
delivery of learning activity materials by someone either in Market Research or
Learning and Development at a much later date after the learner completed each
module.
What were the results of the individual’s or team’s behaviors?
This team built capability for GOJO by:
(a) making the Human Factors Awareness Building course self-directed online so
it's accessible and convenient to more eligible learners to acquire GOJO Human
Factors know-how, without depending on stand-up course offering (approximately
once every 18 - 24 months;
(b) designing-in features of hands-on learning activities into the three interrelated
learning modules to enhance faster, deeper learning.
