MEET THE GOJO SAFETY TEAMS
By Jenn Baumann, Operations Administration
Tim Scherer, Safety Manager
I’ve worked at GOJO a little over six years. I was hired as the Safety Manager in April
of 2012. Prior to GOJO, I was the Environmental Health & Safety Manager for
Shearer’s Foods in Brewster and an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist for
Heinz in Massillon. Of all the places I’ve worked, GOJO is my favorite by a wide
margin. I’m based out of GOJO Lippman Campus, but you’ll also see me at GOJO
Wooster Campus and GOJO Plaza from time to time.
I enjoy my job and feel it is important for numerous reasons. First, there are a lot of
regulations we as a company must follow. I ensure that we comply with applicable
safety regulations, most of which are set forth by the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA). Second, I spend a considerable amount of time working with
Engineering and Maintenance to ensure changes we’re making to existing processes and equipment, as well
as new processes and equipment, result in safe working conditions for GOJO team members. Third, and
most important and enjoyable to me, is working with people across the Enterprise to ensure we practice safe
behaviors and carry an attitude that we look out for our own safety and that of our coworkers.
Adam Graham, Safety Specialist III
I first came to GOJO in September of 2013 as a safety technician following a year
working in the field for Clean Harbors Environmental. I then moved into a Safety
Specialist role before I ventured to GOJO Wooster Campus as operations were
ramping up. I rejoined the GOJO Lippman Campus Safety Team in September of
2017. Although I’m primarily at GOJO Lippman Campus, I still wind up at GOJO
Wooster Campus from time to time and, occasionally, at GOJO Plaza.
Working in Safety, I get to see nearly all aspects of the operation and interact with all
the people who are responsible for making sure these processes are successful. I
have learned so much about a wide variety of topics that, at first glance, have little to
do with safety directly. However, many items that don’t appear to directly tie to safety
at first glance have a way of eventually tying back, making these learnings even more rewarding. I cherish
this part of the job as it has shaped me as a professional in a way that I consider extremely valuable. As a
result, these experiences have the potential to educate workers on aspects of their job that will help to keep
them and others safe at work.
Casimir Rogala, Site Safety Supervisor
I am a graduate of Case Western Reserve University with a BS in Mechanical
Engineering and earned my Professional Engineer’s license in the State of Ohio.
I have worked for GOJO for the past year and a half at GOJO Wooster Campus as the
Site Safety Supervisor.
The majority of my career has been in the manufacturing arena that utilizes hazardous
and flammable chemicals in their processes. Through the years, I have witnessed
accidents and injuries, fires, chemical spills, and even an earthquake in Ohio back in
the ‘80s. I believe what drives me is the desire to see that all GOJO team members go
home the way they came in. When you think of some strange OSHA regulation or
some building code, the reason those are in place is that somewhere, someone was
seriously injured, or worse, because of not following that requirement. 4
