A Study of the Problems the Primary
School Teacher Librarians Have in
Instructing Reading
The Abstract
Due to the PISA ( the Programme for International Student Assessment ),
people in Taiwan pay attention to reading once again. In order to
Improving the reading ability of students, the Ministry of Education
implemented the “Reading 101 Plan” in 2001. And in 2009, it carried
out the “Program of teacher-librarian-promoting-reading” to training
the teacher librarians to enhance students’ reading ability and
learning capacity. Teacher librarians also become to the objective of
researching in academia.
The researcher generalize a conclusion from the collections of the past
studies about the “Teacher-librarian-promoting-reading”. The
conclusions are made as follow:
1.Funding and equipment were insufficient.
2.Lack of manpower.
3. Job orientation is not clear.
4. Others, such as professional knowledge is insufficient.
At last, it makes some recommendations for teacher librarian.
