The Antichrist—"War I Give unto You" 135

from heaven and so forth will be routine. His masterpiece
will be the creation of a lifelike replica of the Antichrist,
capable of speech—perhaps a robot with computer capabi-
                           lities.
The Antichrist is certainly one of a kind, but the two
archvillains of the Bible predict him to some degree. Judas
Iscariot, who sold Christ to the world for thirty pieces of
silver, and Antiochus Epiphanes, who desecrated the second
Temple by sacrificing a sow on the altar, both illustrate
                           traits of the Antichrist.
"The son of perdition" is a description used by both
Jesus and Paul to describe different people. The Lord is
referring to Judas (Jn 17:12) while Paul is prophesying
the activity of the Antichrist (2 Th 2:3-4).
Antiochus exalted himself in the Jerusalem Temple and
caused the normal worship to cease, just as the Antichrist
                            will.
But our man in Satan is the true master. Let's look at the
Antichrist's actions as they will be.

                           I AM GOD
Modesty is not his long suit. He is fanatically sold on
                            himself and his abilities.
He is a man of tremendous energy and action; a diplomat
and a peacemaker, a messiah and a field marshal.
He will institute a new version of the Pax Romana—the
Roman Peace—which will be no improvement over the old
one. By amassing military power and politically expedient
relationships throughout the world, he will guarantee the
peace—at a price. His solution for the Middle East situa-
tion will work brilliantly, for a time—three and one-half
years, to be precise. The astute Daniel observes that the
Antichrist "by peace shall destroy many" (Dan 8:25).
