The Jewish writer above saw the obvious irony in the situ-
ation at the mount, where Jewish police keep Jews off the
supposed Muslim site. It was "tragi-comic" to him, as it
would be, we suppose, to King Solomon. The Christian cor-
respondent looked to the East Gate, where prophecy states
that Jesus will return to Jerusalem, and deplored the Arab
desecration there. His grief was genuine.
