Thus, the world, not just the Jews, is invited to take part
in this glorious work, the building of what we might call a
"halfway house" toward the Temple of God. The people of
Israel realize that Christians have a great interest in the
progress of the Temple rebuilding program, however hesitat-
ing and difficult that progress might be, and they appreciate
Christian concern for the Jews. The burden of financing such
a work is heavy, of course, and there is precedent for outside
help. We saw in the thrilling story of King David that
Araunah the Jebusite graciously provided his valuable land
for the sovereign's building plans toward the first Temple of
God. May the believing non-Jews of today see the value
and sanctity of this work as clearly as Araunah did. Even
though Israel will build the Temple while not yet believing
in Christ, and even though the Tribulation Temple will be
desecrated by the Antichrist, Christians can rejoice in all
steps leading toward the third Temple as the fulfillment of
Bible prophecy and affirmation of the nearness of the second
coming of Christ.
