The Jerusalem Great Synagogue—A Halfway House? 65
called the Temple of God for this time. But, as we have said,
this synagogue is not the Tribulation Temple.
The true Temple, when it is built, will dwarf this beautiful
synagogue and make it fade into insignificance.
We can reason that if the Jewish people would spend such
effort and such burdensome amounts of money on a central
synagogue, they will do even more for the Temple. We have
seen throughout this history of the Temples of God what
sacrifices the chosen people were willing to make in past
times for the true Temples. We have gone into much detail
about the Jerusalem Great Synagogue to show that they have
not lost their zeal for serving God in this way.
Is the synagogue a step toward the rebuilding of the
Temple of God on its proper site? We think that it is. We
think it establishes important precedents toward the Temple
rebuilding; it focuses world Jewish attention on Jerusalem;
it creates a central shrine for Jewish worship; it adorns Jeru-
salem, God's holy city.
And, most importantly, it makes the chosen people yearn
for the real thing!
