Step by Step—A Plan of Action 69
Temple and the resumption of the sacrifices at once, that is
not likely to be the course of any Jewish action in the fore-
2
seeable future."
Indeed, the latter view runs head-on into devastating po-
litical and religious consequences, as we have seen. If the
Muslims take offense at the quiet prayer of small groups in
nonsensitive places on the mount, we can imagine their re-
sponse to animal sacrifices taking place at the very site of
the ancient altar (directly beneath the Dome of the Rock).
And of course, to build the Temple to Ezekiel's specifications
at this time, which involves clearing the site, might well bring
on something like World War III.
A PLAN OF ACTION
Still, there are some Jews going right ahead, as well as they
can, with plans for the rebuilding. They believe that it is an
achievable goal, and with careful consideration for the
worldly realities of the problem, they are making plans for
action.
To be sure, these groups do not make a great deal of noise
about their goal. Pressure is so strong in the Temple situa-
tion that those Jews who want to approach the rebuilding
have great difficulty even expressing their views.
However, the authors located one such group in the United
States who have designed jewelry for the women to wear to
Temple worship and have composed music for the services!
The group is called The Institute for Bible Design and is lo-
cated in the New York area. In the May 14, 1974, issue of
the Jerusalem Post the Institute ran a half-page advertise-
ment with the following headline: MAY IT BE THY WILL
O LORD OUR G-D THAT OUR HOLY TEMPLE BE
REBUILT IN JERUSALEM IN OUR DAYS.
