The Bible Tells Me So 81
tinction between the two rooms, in the midst of a lengthy
description of God's architectural instructions for the taber-
nacle.
The expression holy place, as used by the Lord, can on-
ly refer to this Temple room. The abomination of desola-
tion will take place there, so the Temple must be standing.
The Lord had already predicted the destruction of the
second Temple, and here He predicts the establishment of
the third. Surely the latter prophecy will prove as accurate
as the former.
Also to be noticed here is the editorial commentary by
the Holy Spirit that this passage is to be read with special
understanding.
The apostle Paul also referred to the Tribulation Temple:
Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day
shall not come, except there come a falling away first,
and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who
opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God,
or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the
temple of God, shewing himself that he is God (2 Th 2:
3-4, italics added).
The man of sin referred to here is elsewhere called the
Antichrist or the wicked prince. He will be the chief op-
poser of God and all that belongs to God. He will seat him-
self in the Temple and proclaim himself God. He will de-
mand the worship of all men. He will be "Satan in the
sanctuary."
The Greek term in this Scripture for Temple is naos,
which denotes the Temple building proper. The term
hieron, used in other Scriptures, refers to the whole Temple
site. Paul, then, very definitely locates the Antichrist as
being in the sanctuary itself. This corroborates the Lord's
reference to the holy place.
