Preface
PEOPLE HAVE ALWAYS WONDERED about the future, but
nowadays that natural wonder is turning into concern.
Where are we going? What lies ahead? What is the world
coming to?
There has been a heightened interest in present-day
prophets who claim to foresee important events in the fu-
ture of politics or war, and in astrologers who seem to
specialize in our emotional futures. But whatever the par-
ticular medium, the concern is real.
There has also been an enormous surge of interest in
biblical prophecy as a means of seeing the future. Today
it's not just the isolated Bible scholar or seminary student
who is knowledgeable in the visions of Daniel and the
Revelation; the man on the street is becoming informed.
A number of important books have been produced which
explain the general conclusions of biblical prophecy, in-
cluding Hal Lindsey's The Late, Great Planet Earth, and
they have promoted a justifiable attention to the Bible as a
tool of understanding world events and their direction.
The Bible has been around for a long time and has al-
ways been appreciated at least for its literature, if not its
message. But lately, there's a new appreciation. As world
conditions progress, people have begun to notice that the
Bible has something to say about them.
