8. CONCLUSION AND THE PRESENTATION OF THE GRADUAND

Mr. Chancellor Sir, the life story of Gaob Honoris Causa
Justus ǁGaroëb has shown immeasurable
qualities, his immense contributions to society,
especially in terms of politics, Education, and
Preservation of Culture. Since childhood,
he had already learnt that whatever the
challenging circumstances, he should always
remain focussed and resolute to the national
mission and vision.

As a youth, our candidate showed bravery and

community to undo the negative images that
surrounded his community and its leadership. Our candidate realised that he
had a great service to provide to his community. As a traditional leader, he not
only kept the spiritual fire of his community burning, but he was nationalistic in
his political orientation by engaging and aligning with progressive political forces
such as the Namibia National Front (NNF), SWANU, ovaMbanderu Council,
and SWAPO amongst others, in the struggle to end apartheid colonial rule in
Namibia.

Mr. Chancellor Sir, our candidate has made meaningful contributions as a
member of Namibian Constituent Assembly in drafting of Namibia’s constitution;
in serving as a member of the National Assembly; in participating in democratic
elections and accepting the verdicts of the people through the ballot box.

Mr. Chancellor Sir, I feel convinced to state that today we are not only honouring
a Namibian patriot, but we are also honouring inclusivity in the Namibian house.
Mr. Chancellor Sir, on recommendations of the Honorary Degree Committee,
the Senate, and the approval by the Council of the University of Namibia, I
present to you the 80 years old Gaob Justus ǁGaroëb to be conferred a Doctor
of Philosophy, Honoris Causa in Political Science (Studies).
