revealed that most students have not read the UNAM Academic
Integrity Policy of 2017, which addresses issues about plagiarism,
ethics and integrity of academic conduct at UNAM.
Recommendation: Training must be done in conjunction with the
UNAM Library staff to allow students to benefit from learning how to
use referencing software from the onset of their studies. In addition,
the UNAM Academic Integrity Policy of 2017 should be made easily
accessible both on the student portal and on UNAM’s Learning
Management System- Moodle.
Conclusion: It is possible to manage plagiarism with appropriate
prevention, detection software, and institutional sanctions against
proven plagiarists when students are informed about the consequences
of academic dishonesty.
