The first obligation is to ensure that a good instructional day occurs every day. The news media
should not be responsible for interruptions to the instructional process. The District will be
cooperative with and assist the media in scheduling interviews and/or providing access to our
schools.
Open Door Policy
The Lawson Academy wishes to provide the most positive and productive work environment
possible. To that end, it has an open-door policy where it welcomes your questions, suggestions
or complaints relating to your job, conditions of employment, The Academy or the treatment you
are receiving. Other than in situations involving harassment (as outlined and described above),
please contact your direct supervisor with your questions or concerns. If the situation is not
resolved to your satisfaction, please contact the Principal or the District Office, preferably in
writing, who will further investigate the issue.
Purchasing Procedures
Campus purchases are to be made by the Principal or the Superintendent. Receipt of purchase(s)
will be confirmed by the business office. All items will be delivered from the vendor(s) to the
business office. The business office will verify items received with purchase order. When all
items have been received in good condition at the business office, they will be delivered to the
Principal’s office. Once the business office receives the invoice for purchases approved and
received, the invoice will be paid.
Receipt of Cash
Teachers and other employees should direct students or parents to the District Office for payments
of fees, supplies purchases or any other items. All cash and checks received will be receipted in
the business office, and all deposits must agree to the receipts, and traceable to the bank statement.
Safety and Security Policy
The Lawson Academy is committed to providing and maintaining a healthy and safe work
environment for all employees. You are required to know and comply with The Academy’s general
safety rules and to follow safe and healthy work practices at all times. You are required to
immediately report to your supervisor any potential health or safety hazards and all injuries or
accidents.
The Academy has also developed guidelines to help maintain a secure workplace.
• Be aware of unknown persons loitering in parking areas, walkways, entrances, exits and
service areas.
• Report any suspicious persons or activities to your supervisor.
• Secure your desk or office at the end of the day.
