students, and visitors at any Academy-sponsored instructional program, activity, or athletic event
held on or off school property.
Soliciting / Conducting Personal Business While on Duty
Employees are not permitted to conduct personal business or solicit personal business for any
cause or organization while on-duty, or when the employee being solicited is supposed to be
working. This prohibition includes distributing literature and other material. Distribution of
materials is also against The Lawson Academy’s policy if it interferes with access to facility
premises, if it results in litter or is conducted in areas where other employees are working.
Solicitation during non-work time, (e.g., paid breaks, lunch periods or other such non-work
periods) is permissible. Entry on Academy premises by non-employees is not permitted, unless
related to official Academy business. Solicitation or distribution of written materials by non-
employees is strictly prohibited.
Teacher Workroom
The teacher workroom is provided for the convenience and enjoyment of all staff members.
Everyone should help to keep the lounge area neat and orderly by washing their own dishes and
keeping the counters free of debris and microwave ovens wiped and clean. Clear the refrigerator
of items belonging to you once every week. Children of staff members and students are not
allowed in the teachers’ lounge.
Each staff member must accept the responsibility for keeping the lounge neat in appearance.
Smoking is prohibited in the building.
Visitors and Volunteers
In respect of the health and safety of our students and staff visitors or volunteers will be restricted
during our nation’s pandemic. Under normal circumstances, all guests must sign/check in at the
main office desk and obtain a visitor’s badge. We must all be cognizant of who is in our building
at all times. Should you see an unfamiliar person not wearing an identification badge, it is
important to redirect that person to the front office to obtain a pass. Guests are welcome in our
school building. Parents should fill out a volunteer sheet and complete a background check.
Teachers may schedule parent volunteers according to what best suits the classroom needs.
Volunteers are always welcome under normal circumstances, and we look forward to resuming
their assistance in tutoring, mentoring and administrative activities. Each volunteer is still required
to undergo a Background Check (Exhibit N) prior to service.
BE COURTEOUS AND WELCOME PARENTS AND VISITORS TO OUR BUILDING.
