Injuries to Children & Accident Reports
Any accident involving a student, staff member, parent, volunteer, etc. must be documented and
copies given to administration within 24 hours of the accident to be kept on file. The
administration requires immediate notification during or after an accident has occurred; however,
the formal documented needs to be submitted within the school day in which the accident occurred.
A faculty injury must be reported to administration on the day it occurs. Regardless of the severity,
the injury must be documented on an accident form. Injury may include aggressions from students
or campus members, accidents, and/or self-inflictions on site.
Do not move a child who appears to be critically injured. Notify the front office immediately, if
EMS is deemed necessary, contact the office immediately and the call will be made from there.
Internet Use / Access
An adult must supervise any student using the Internet. It is recommended that teachers bookmark
sites they have identified as appropriate for student educational use. At NO time should students
be allowed to “surf” the Net unsupervised.
All staff have unlimited Internet access in the pursuit of their professional duties.
*Personal Internet use is not permissible during the contractual hours and is monitored.
News Media Contacts
The Executive Director’s Office will maintain a program for the dissemination of information to
the news media. The Executive Director will serve as a liaison with television media, radio
media, and print media on coverage of education in The Lawson Academy. News media requests
should be directed to the Executive Director’s Office (713.741.3600). It would be a rare case to
deny permission for the news media to talk with department administrators or Principal, but policy
requires that all media inquiries be referred first to the Executive Director’s Office except for
routine athletics.
