               Fire Drills / Emergency Drills

               IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY,
               PLEASE CALL 911
               Give the following information:

This is The Lawson Academy Campus at 5052 Scott Street, Houston, TX, 77004

If phone communications become unusable or impractical, the school district will attempt to send
information via the following sources: cell phone and email.

Fire drills will be held monthly. Teachers will be responsible for supervising the exit of students
through the proper exits and assembling in class groups outside. Teachers will assure that lights
are turned off, doors are closed, grade book is in teacher’s possession, and attendance checked
               after the class re-assembles.

Should a designated exit be blocked, either by fire or another obstruction, teachers will have their
students exit by the nearest unobstructed exit. Should a fire alarm sound by mistake, we will
continue through the drill as if it had been intentional.

All emergency procedures should be posted by the classroom door. Exit signs are to be placed in
an obvious place where students can see them without needing to search. Teachers should instruct
their classes in the proper procedure for emergency drills. It is important to review the procedure
throughout the school year. Teachers will normally be alerted when we are planning a test.
Remember to take your grade book and to count students.

In case of an actual fire, one student or a nearby teacher should be sent to the administration to
report the fire. Act quickly; do not wait until a fire is out of control.

For those students in wheelchairs or those students who need assistance moving around, one staff
member will be assigned to individual students to ensure each student is removed from the building
safely and in a prompt manner.
