STAFF: TIME AND ATTENDANCE POLICY AND STANDARDS

               Absences

Staff are expected to adhere to the attendance policy. Personal days provided by the state as well
as other “sick days” should be planned as soon as possible. Please notify the office as soon as plans
are made. Staff absences should be minimal. They should be avoided, as much as possible, except
for the following types of reasons:
                   • Personal illness and appointments with medical professionals
                   • Family illness--typically among immediate family members (children, spouse, and
                       parents)
                   • Funerals—immediate family members include mother, father, sister, brother
                   • Personal business which cannot be scheduled outside the regular instructional day
                   • Family emergencies
                   • Pre-approved workshops
                   • Other--as approved by the principal

There will be no principal approval of employee leave for (1) the day before a holiday or (2) the
first day folllowing a holiday. If an employee is absent on either named days, that employee will
be docked for the absence at the employee’s day rate.

Advance written notice of at least three (3) days should be given to the principal for all absences
due to personal business, except in case of emergency.

An absence related to an illness of three (3) days or more must be accompanied by a doctor’s
statement upon the employee’s return to work.

A Request for Time Off Form is available in the office (Exhibit D). This form must be submitted
directly to the principal for approval prior to all absences.

All full-time staff members will receive a total 5 state days per year. The state days will accumulate
and will transfer to other Teacher Retirement System of Texas entities.

               Arrival & Punctuality

All employees are expected to arrive at school at or before their official duty day begins. For all
faculty and staff, this is 7:15a.m. daily; with the exception of the facilities manager. It is school
policy that all teaching staff will follow a duty schedule as assigned.

               Duty Schedule: 7:15 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday
