Attendance

The Lawson Academy’s normal working hours are defined by the Work Calendar Schedule,
below. All staff are expected to be at school every workday at least fifteen (15) minutes before
school begins in order to be ready for classes or work, or at the time directed for other school
events/responsibilities. Other administrative staff may be required to be on campus earlier because
               of their specific job responsibilities.

Unless otherwise directed, teachers are expected to be at school until at least forty-five (45)
minutes after classes/school ends (excluding any afterschool programming). Meetings,
committees, tutoring, parent conferences or lesson preparation may require additional time at
school. All other staff, including Business Office Staff and administrators, are expected to be at
the school (or the District Office) thirty (30) minutes after classes are dismissed, although later
               hours may be needed.

               Duties

Whenever you are responsible for any duties--assigned, elected, or voluntary--it is expected that
they will be carried out effectively and as required. Please take all such duties seriously and
perform them accordingly even if not routinely monitored.

All classes will do the Pledge of Allegiance, Texas Pledge, and the Lawson Scholar Charge in the
morning. Please be sure to model appropriate behavior (standing at attention, right hand over
heart, etc.) so that students develop respect and high regard for our country’s traditions.

               Duty Day

Most full-time staff are expected to be on duty from 7:00 a.m – 4:30.p.m. All full-time staff may
have before-or after-school duty. Early Dismissal Days will be designated Staff-Wide Professional
Learning Community (PLC). Please do not scheudle appointments for Early Dismissal Days.

Between instructional periods all teachers are expected to line up students and prepare for an
orderly dismissal to the next class period. Teachers are also expected to be at their class doorways
to help monitor transitions between classes. Please do not leave campus during your planning
time without appropriately signing out and notifying the Principal. (If your absence requires more
than one (1) hour, complete the Request for Time Off form (Exhibit D) prior to exiting the
               campus.

Professional Development Days work hours are 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., unless otherwise
notified. Please use each day productively, prepare instructional plans, prepare bulletin boards and
displays, finalize grades, review files, attend professional training, etc.

If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find someone to cover your duty. Any changes
in the duty schedule need to be reported to the Principal.
