SECTION 2: STAGE MANAGEMENT OR PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

On completion of this Section, students should:

1. understand the creative processes of making a performance;

2. understand the technical and management or production processes that support the making
of theatre; and,

3. understand the importance of recording the production process including through technology
integration.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

Students should be able to:

1. execute artistic interpretations for school and community performances;

2. outline the steps involved in taking a topic and bringing it to the stage;

3. coordinate a production team;

4. work within a production team;

5. demonstrate production or technical skills; and,

6. outline the processes of their participation in a production.

CONTENT

1. Production concept:

(a) text:

(i) themes;

(ii) genre;

(iii) style;

(iv) tone; and,

(v) period.

(b) preliminary design ideas;

(c) creation of 3D images, (for example, rough sketches, photography, videography);
