BIO (U1) P010 The Supervisor reported having been informed by the
Invigilator that a phone had alarmed, the candidate was taken
outside the examination room and informed "...that all her
exam will be cancelled due to this breach." The candidate was
then sent back to finish examination and advised to write a
report for submission to OEC. The Invigilator report specifically
stated the candidate was not using her phone at the time.
In her statement, the candidate indicated the cell phone which
was in her jacket pocket alarms at 130PM daily. She stated, "..I
was completely unaware of the phone still being in my jacket
pocket, due to my lack of a schoolbag." She apologised for
interrupting the examination and stated she had no intention of
cheating.
Recommended Decision 7.1 Unauthorized material. Cancel result in the subject.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP UNIT 1
Centre/Candidates: 1005440244
ENTREPRENEURSHIP (U1) The exams coordinator reported the Supervisor had observed
the P020 (ESSAY) candidate looking at a 'disguised object in a
suspicious manner'. The candidate was taken from the room
and questioned. He indicated he was checking the time on his
cell phone. The phone was taken from him and he confirmed
he was aware of the 'no cell phone rule'.
In his statement, the candidate indicated while working through
the paper he paused, "…to check the time on my phone and
slipped it back into my pocket". He reported being questioned
about cheating and replied he wasn't and willingly handed over
the device. He further stated, "In the years of taking exams from
CXC, I never really read any of the rules." He also stated
although there was a clock in the room, "I wanted to check what
time it was…", "I am just unable to read analogue clocks well".
Recommended Decision 7.1 Unauthorized material. Cancel result in the subject.
PURE MATHEMATICS UNIT 1

PMATH (U1) P020 (ESSAY) The Supervisor reported observing the candidate copying
information from his cell phone. He was observed on question
#6 at the time. The Supervisor further reported immediately
removing the phone from the candidate.
