The Donkey in the Tree
A few hours later the owners came home.
They saw the muddy, animal footprints but they
could not see Wail so high up in the tree.
They called the police and animal control.
They couldn’t sleep because they didn’t know
what kind of animal it was or where it was, so they
went to a hotel until the police and animal control
could solve the puzzle.
They were happy when the police called to say
they had found what it was. They said it was a
donkey and it was stuck in the tree.
It took a lot of people to get Wail out of the tree.
When they did, he was taken back to the zoo and
the family moved back into their house.
When Wail returned to the zoo he told the head
zookeeper why he had run away.
