The Lazy Mermaid

When the doctor was finished eating he wondered,
“Why does that little girl have to be so selfish?”

That question whirled around in his head for a

while. Then he said to himself, “I know what to do

with her!” The next morning when Jasmine awoke

to a plate of scrambled seaweed that Dr Triton had
cooked and a note beside it which read:

Dear Jasmine,

I have left to take care of some patients and I will

not be back until dinner time. In the meantime

please make yourself some breakfast, sweep and

dust the house, wash the dishes as well as my

clothes and make my dinner. When I get home
I expect that all of this would have been done

Jasmine read the note and threw it on the seabed.

She ate her plate of scrambled seaweed and really

enjoyed it because she was very hungry, but she

refused to do any of the chores or cook dinner.
Dr Triton came home later to see no chores done,

no dinner cooked and Jasmine fast asleep on the

sofa!
