The Curse
By the time we finished setting up our tents it was
already twilight. We started a camp fire and sat
around it eating our coconut bakes, salt fish souse
and cocoa tea, which was prepared by Mr. Licorish
and his wife Ms. Hilary.
Mr. Licorish then started telling us stories about
LaDiablesse, Ligaroo, Papa Bois and Soucouyant
(pronounced, soo-coo-yah). Some of the boys put
on a brave face and pretended they weren’t scared,
to impress the girls, but deep down I knew they
