INROUCION

his issue of the ILMUN Journal should have been published and
reached our readers in the last quarter of 1988 but due to certain conditions
beyond our control it was slightly delayed to the first quarter of this year.
We would lie to have this journal regularly published every year. o do so,
we appeal to contributors be they affiliated members of the Bahrain
Historical and Archaeological Society or academics or persons simply with
a general interest in the history andlor archaeology of Bahrain and the
Arabian Gulf to send their articles as soon as possible in order to give our
editorial board ample time to decide the shape of forthcoming issues.

Ln this issue we are starting two new features concerning members and
activities of the Society. Profiles of two members will be highlighted from
now on in addition to a list of important activities conducted throughout the
year. his, undoubtedly, will help document the annals of the Bahrain
Historical and Archaeological Society. Added to this, the editorial board of
this Journal would be very happy to hear comments from our readers
relating to matters published in the Jourmal. With this we are hoping to
introduce a Letter to the Editor' page in future issues.

We would lie to epress our profound gratitude and appreciation to
H.E. the Minister of Information for his continuous support to the Society.

We would also lie to than the irectorate of the Government
Printing Press of the Ministry of Information for printing this Journal.

As to our contributors, they deserve a very special 'than you' for
maing this issue o٤ ILMUN" possible.
