ahrain has been known by different names throughout it's long history.
went under the names 'Dilmun' orTilmun'' circa 2300 B.C. And the myths and legends
‫ ﺃ‬the land of Dilmun belong to this era. Tylos and Arados were the t٧o nanes given by the
ireeks for the islands of Manama and Muharraq respectively.
Awal" was the third title given to present day Bahrain and it is an Arabian nane for the
eity of the ٠Rabia' tribe. It was in the 13th century that the islands were given the name
Bahrain' translated as Two Seas' ... possibly sweet and salt seas.
