On five sheets of this value, a small number of stamps in the lower
left corner were wholly or partly without overprint and/or surcharge on
account of inadequate inking of the plate. One sheet was preserved and
shows R19/1, “3 ANNAS” albino; R20/1, overprint and surcharge
albino; and R20/2-5 similarly partly affected; from another sheet
R20/1- 4 was preserved mint. The remaining three sheets were broken
up, the variety having been unnoticed; but two used pairs have
survived, overprint and/or surcharge albino in pair with normal, and six
used singles from these sheets arc also known.

This used pair probably came from Row 20 (Nos. 2 and 3)

Interesting varieties exist on the Rs5 which was overprinted on
sheets of the basic G.B. stamp which have “T” guide marks in the
               King’s hair on Rows 2/3,2/7 and 5/4.
