with value only) of these values were placed on sale in Kuwait and
Ahmadi Post Offices. Again in 1954 similar shortages led to E2R
stamps, surcharged with value only, being sold. The use of the “Value
Only” stamps in Kuwait and elsewhere will be dealt with in greater
          detail in a later section.
On February 7th, 1952, the Kuwait Post Office moved from the
Suuq al Sarafin to its sixth location. This was in the Customs area
on the waterfront, and it remained here until it finally closed on July
          •14th, 1962 — having been re-named “SIEF” when Kuwait’s new
independent G.P.O. was opened on February 1st, 1959.

The first Q.E.II definitives, 1 Via. and 2Via., were issued on
December 10th, 1952; and the remaining low values appeared on
various dates up to January 1954. The first printing of the Via., released
on August 31st, 1953, was overprinted in two operations “KUWAIT
ANNA” and “Vi”, and this printing may sometimes be recognised when
the fraction was not centrally placed in relation to the rest of the over
           print.
