A third Post Office was opened on August 1st, 1953, at Mena al
Ahmadi (the “Port of Ahmadi”), the oil loading terminal. It was a sub
office of Ahmadi Post Office and was, likewise, operated by the Kuwait
Oil Company on behalf of the British Postal Agencies. The canceller
(Type 31) was only used on registered mail and parcels, and ordinary mail
was sent to Ahmadi Post Office: no other cancellers were ever used at
this Post Office before it closed on December 17th, 1961, being no longer
required in view of the close proximity of a Post Office in the neighbouring
         village of Fahahil.

The last British Agency Post Offices were opened in 1954, at Jewan
on April 7th, and at Mabarakya Street on April 14th. Both were sub
offices of Kuwait Post Office and normally only postmarked registered
mail and parcels. “Jewan” was a corruption of “J.l”, the original desig
nation of a construction camp — later an Army Barracks — some distance
west of Kuwait Town (there was also a J.2 Camp). Initially, it used a
Kuwait canceller (Type 21), but from September 27th, had its own
cancellers (Types 32 and 33); the latter being known occasionally with
         the date inverted.
