As had been the ease previously, Dubai traders found it convenient
                   to post letters on board the B.l.S.N. steamers before they sailed; and the
                   new stamps arc occasionally found cancelled with the BOMBAY
                   FOREIGN. PAQUEBOT cancellation.
                       Throughout the period of British postal administration, air mail
                  was despatched and received through the Airport 15 miles away in
                   neighbouring Sharjah. There was, at this time, no postal service in
                  Sharjah and the small amount of mail to and from that State was usually
                  handled by Dubai Post Office.
                       The first Political Officer for the Trucial Coast was appointed in
                   1948 and was based in Sharjah. His title was changed to Political Agent
                  in 1953 and his office moved to Dubai in 1954.
