The issued designs were the work of M. Goaman and M. C. Farrar-
         Bell, and the seven Palm Trees on the lower values represented the seven
         States. The new stamps were placed on sale in Dubai, the only State which
         then had a post office, on January 7th, 1961. In fact, Abu Dhabi was the
         only other State which subsequently had a British Postal administration
         (1963-66) but, as will be later recorded, did not use this Trucial States
         issue. Consequently, the Trucial States stamps were only ever used in
         Dubai.

              It is interesting to see how Ras al Khaima adapted the Trucial
         States designs for her own use when the independent Postal Administra­
         tion of that State issued stamps three years later.


















              Although the surcharged G.B. stamps were withdrawn from sale in
         Dubai on January 7th, 1961, they continued to be valid for postage so
