New cancellers (Type 15), numbered “1” and “2”, were registered
in the G.P.O. Impression Book on December 5th, 1961, and gradually
replaced Types 12 and 13 cancelling the new stamps. An oval rubber
Registered canceller (Type 16: not illustrated, but similar in style to
Bahrain Type 22) may have been in use some time previously but has
only been seen with a very blurred impression, “27 AUG 62”. It was
replaced by Type 17 which was registered at the G.P.O. on October 10th,
                    1962.

                                      POSTAL INDEPENDENCE

The Government of Dubai took over the postal services on June
14th, 1963, but although the Trucial States issue was then withdrawn, it
remained valid for use until September 30th.
