The new reign saw the introduction of several new cancellers.

Type 7 first appeared in 1938 and, after a short life, was followed by
Type 8. The latter was not a machine canceller but was intended to
S' cancel a number of stamps at one strike. It was originally a 27mm.
circle without the time incorporated; but, after the War, a similar
canceller was used with a 25mm. circle and time incorporated. The
latter, possibly through damage, usually reads BAHRAIR AIR. Both
these cancellers have been said to exist without the word AIR, but this
was possibly the result of a mis-reading of a poor strike.

                                 Type 9 Type 9A
A canceller intended specifically for use on registered mail
(Type 9) had been introduced by early 1940; and was still in use
cancelling G.B. overprinted stamps as late as March 1949. A forgery
of this canceller dated 26 JAN 42 - though the date is usually indis
tinct — is known (Type 9A) on unoverprinted Indian stamps on piece.
