Re: Administrative Services Director/Town Treasurer Position
Dear Sir/Madam:
Please accept this letter and resume as my application for the position of Administrative Services
Director/Town Treasurer. My resume is included for your review and consideration.
Currently, I serve as Administrator for the Town of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, a small coastal
community. I am a self-motivated and dedicated professional who wishes to continue my career of public
service somewhere I can make a real difference, and I welcome the opportunity to serve the residents of
the Town of Paradise.
I am confident that my municipal government experience, my interpersonal skills and my expertise in
public finance make me an ideal candidate for this position. I believe that my unique management
experience will be of value to Paradise. Specifically, I wish to identify a few areas of particular strength
relative to the town’s needs.
1. My favorite aspect of managing a small town is the opportunity to forge meaningful relationships
with the residents. I can’t be successful without these relationships, so it’s important that people
find me approachable and feel I’m easily accessible. It’s ultimately what this job is all about.
2. I’ve managed through six federally declared emergency disaster events in the past six years. I have
considerable experience with disaster preparedness, emergency management and FEMA
processes for recovery and hazard mitigation.
3. I have a proven track record of acquiring federal, state and local grant funds. Last year I secured
a state grant resulting in over $6 million to support a beach renourishment project.
4. To be successful managing a smaller community I must rely on regional intergovernmental
partnerships for assistance in meeting all of our needs. I have a proven track record of creating
and maintaining healthy relationships with government and community stakeholders.
As an affable, dependable, and enthusiastic government manager, I believe my background and deep
understanding of the public sector is particularly relevant to the needs of this position. I’m anxious to
learn more about your expectations for the role and look forward to the opportunity of meeting personally
to discuss my interest.
Thank you for your consideration.
