PRINCIPAL PROGRAM SPECIALIST-EDUCATION AND PUBLIC OUTREACH | SONOMA WATER | JANUARY 2016 TO PRESENT
Manage 10 staff members who are responsible for developing and implementing education programs, public
events, tours, and workforce readiness and training programs. Under my guidance, all programs are guided by
SMART goals, adhere to Sonoma Water’s strategic plan, and provide authentic public engagement. Programs
participation has increased by 25% over the past four years, and strategic partnerships have led to 350,000 in
external funding.
SENIOR PROGRAM SPECIALIST-WATER EDUCATION | SONOMA WATER | 2015 TO 2016
Develop, enact, assess and market environmental education programs, public tours and the Sonoma County Youth
Ecology (SCYEC). Coordinate and Emcee events with numerous stakeholders such as the SCYEC kick-off event.
Update and develop content for Sonoma Water and SCYEC websites. Train, schedule, and hire staff.
PROGRAM SPECIALIST-WATER EDUCATION | SONOMA COUNTY WATER AGENCY | 2009 TO 2015
Develop, enact, and assess education programs in the classroom and outdoor environment. Assess teaching
abilities and provide tasks for Resource Technicians. Coordinate public tours of the water supply system and
sanitation treatment plants. Create outreach documents for the public and elected officials including press
releases, brochures and large quantity direct mailers in InDesign and Microsoft Word. Develop watershed wide
education and conservation campaigns.
WATER CONSERVATION TECHNICIAN | NORTH MARIN WATER DISTRICT | 2009 TO 2010
Assisted in administering and implementing water conservation programs, such as home audits and rebate
programs. Responsible for representing the North Marin Water District at public events.
Skills & Abilities
MANAGEMENT
Attended Supervisory Skills for a Modern Workplace, hosted by Barowsky School of Business. This training
provided valuable insight in creating personal SMART goals and SMART goals for each staff member. Sonoma
County’s HIGHER Executive Leadership Program is geared to train managers to ascend to executive leadership.
As the chairperson of the board of a local nonprofit, The Center for Social and Environmental Stewardship, I
provide goals and assessment of the Executive Director, and strategic leadership for the organization.
COMMUNICATION
I have conducted presentations on topics ranging from water and wastewater operations, MS4 permit
compliance, climate change, racial equity, and strategic planning to diverse groups such as Sonoma Water’s board
of directors, water contractors, technical advisory committees, and other regional stakeholders. I represent
Sonoma Water, engage the public at events, and am constantly communicating with members of our community
one on one, and in large groups. I am responsible for writing and providing the final edit on content included in
press releases, talking points, webpages, brochures, the Water Awareness Calendar, and publicly displayed
signage.
