I would like to be considered for the advertised Director position. My experience and
temperament are well-suited to collaboratively lead the Authority and its ratepayers
through this extremely volatile period in the solid waste and recycling arena.

I have a broad, distinguished career, much of it in California. My success spans both the
public and private sectors, including running Berkeley’s Zero Waste Division, the
Ecology Center’s curbside recycling program, the Recycling Division of San Francisco’s
Solid Waste Management Program, and Waste Management’s large diversion campus
in San Leandro. I currently manage recycling operations in the western US for Greif, Inc
(formerly Caraustar, which acquired The Newark Group/Recycled Fibers in 2014).
Throughout my professional history I have joined forces with many talented people to
implement innovative, foundational programs with minimal impacts to ratepayers.

The Director position truly interests me, as I was offered a similar job as Executive
Director for the Sonoma County Waste Management Agency in early 2016. Although
Caraustar presented me the Regional Manager spot, which was a better fit at that time,
my skill set continues to make me an excellent candidate to lead a JPA or Waste
Authority. My well-rounded expertise and leadership abilities mesh extremely well with
the current needs of the RWA and the communities it serves.
