Leadership of the City of Sacramento’s Department of Public Works. The 733 employee
Department is responsible for dozens of business lines spread across seven Divisions including
Transportation, Engineering, Solid Waste/Recycling, Facilities, Streets Maintenance, Fleet
Services, and Parking. Key initiatives since assuming this role have included a the creation of a
Citywide Complete Streets Policy, a Recycle/Solid Waste rate increase, working with Sacramento
Regional Transit to identify strategies to re-imagine the former Streetcar project as a new Light
Rail extension, determination of alternatives for a new homeless triage facility, and creating a new
vision in the Department’s Strategic Plan.

DUTIES
Management of the Transportation Division of the Department of Public works, including:
- Traffic Signs & Markings shop, responsible for installation and maintenance of traffic signs and traffic control
pavement markings for approximately 3,000 lane miles or public roadway.
- Traffic Signals & Streetlights shop, responsible for maintenance of over 800 traffic signals and other traffic
control devices and over 40,000 streetlights.
- Traffic Investigations, responsible for interaction with Public regarding inquiries, complaints and concerns
associated with traffic operations, traffic calming, and neighborhood traffic management.
- Traffic Design, responsible for design of traffic control devices and roadway features on Capital Improvement
Projects and plan check for off-site improvements associated with Private Development Projects.
- Transportation Planning, responsible for long range planning for the City's mobility programs including the
mobility element of the General Plan, shared rideables, Vision Zero Traffic Safety program, and coordination
with regional planning partners such as SACOG and Sacramento Regional Transit.
- Traffic Operations Center, responsible for operation and real time traffic monitoring of the City's network of
over 800 traffic signals, including Traffic Management during Sacramento Kings NBA games.
- Entitlements & Traffic Studies, responsible for the entitlement and conditioning of the off-site elements of
private development projects.
