Assisting the
Community
This year will be our fourth annual Winter
Sleepout Appeal for the St Vincent DePaul
Society and Ozanam Community Centre in
North Melbourne.
Last year in the midst of Winter, a number of
Young Vinnies students committed to sleep
outside to raise money for charity as part of
this appeal.
Vinnies Sleepouts give people a glimpse into
the realities of homelessness by ‘sleeping
rough’ for a night to raise awareness and funds
for Vinnies homelessness services.
“The ‘hands on’ nature of our Vinnies School
Sleepout by our students develops them
with the understanding of the impact of
homelessness and provides an opportunity
to take action”, said Mark Brockhus, Salesian
College Sunbury Principal.
“This experience challenged our students
sense of home and offered them an unique
insight into the complex issues faced by
people experiencing homelessness”.
“It is an opportunity for us all to be grateful It is estimated over
for what we have in our life and give back to
others. We feel it is important for us to provide
people experiencing homelessness with the 105,000
support to rebuild their lives and reconnect
with the community”.
