2025: SUSTAINING MAGNET® RE-DESIGNATION
IIn March 2022, University of Michigan Health achieved ANCC Magnet® designation for
the second time, joining an elite group of 570 institutions worldwide recognized for
nursing excellence and commitment to improved patient outcomes. As a Magnet®
designated organization, Michigan Medicine empowers its nurses with the autonomy and
resources needed to deliver outstanding patient care and to share innovative strategies
and practices nationally and globally. Magnet® institutions consistently excel in recruiting
and retaining nursing professionals, which contributes to lower staff turnover and a more
stable workforce.
Michigan Medicine supports this standard by annually implementing focused retention
strategies, providing nurses with ongoing educational and professional development
opportunities throughout their careers. Maintaining Magnet® status remains a top nursing
priority, and vigorous preparation for the next Magnet® designation review in 2026 is
underway.
