Note to Trainer: If the eLearning on unnecessary expenses is available, play/project it with and follow
the course with the students.
Let’s get started listening the story of Samina and her brother Raza. The story is about how to use
money wisely.
Raza wanted to buy a new mobile phone, and was decided to buy it.
Samina, reminded him that the mobile was not urgent, and
that the family had other priori es like improving the fruit
store and to pay for the educa on of Raza and Samina.
The first reac on of Raza was that he should buy the mobile
phone because he liked it, and he considered that if they had
money available they should spend it on things he liked.
Samina men oned that Raza´s mobile phone was s ll in good
condi on; therefore, the new mobile was an unnecessary
expense. By avoiding unnecessary expenses, they could afford to save money. Raza complained a bit and
accused Samina for being a “penny pincher” but finally realized that the new mobile was not an urgent
expense. He understood that he didn’t have to buy something just because he liked it.
