Kiasuism
The word “kiasu” is coming from Hokkien, means “fear of losing
or not getting the best”. It can explain the stereotype of some

Singaporean behaviors. Kiasuism manifests itself in many ways,

such as waiting in long lines to receive a door prize or giveaway
or grabbing excess amounts of food in a buffet or sale items at a
store for fear of not getting it later. But it could also describe an
ambitious and successful person. Most of the Asian are taught to
be gentle, while Kiasuism attitude can come off as aggressive and
opportunistic. Well, if you want to succeed within a competitive
society, you have to practice how to communicate straight to the
point and get to take the fact that being gentle may not be the
solution for everything.
