CARING FOR GLASSW ARE

All staff will take care when handling the venue’s assets, including glassware, to
avoid breakages and protect their long-term investment value.

        Stacking and washing

        • Stack glasses that are alike together in the same rack.

        • Ensure wine glasses are stacked together, and ensure they are packed tightly
into the rack so that they can not fall over and break.

        • When inserting glassware into the dishwasher, do so gently and with great
            care.

        Polishing

        • Hold the bowl of the wine glass in one hand using one end of the cloth, and
gently polish inside and outside of the bowl with the other end.

Move down the stem and polish the base separately.
        • Move down the stem and polish the base separately.

                                            Bowl

                                            Base

        Note:

Never twist the base and the bowl. Wine glasses have a natural weak spot
where the bowl meets the stem. If one hand is on the stem or the base of the
glass and the other is busy at the bowl, your natural tendency is to twist to get
completely around the bowl. When you twist you are essentially twisting one off
the other and the result... breakages!

        Breakages

All breakages must be recorded in the Breakages Book noting your name, the
item broken, the date and the reason for the breakage.
