Over the past few years, video games have been becoming more and more

mainstream. Because of this, many children all over the world have

become obsessed over them.

There are many factors to consider when discussing the popularity of video

games and the causes of addiction, but one of the main reasons is the rise

in popularity of a video game called “Fortnite”. In 2016, Fortnite took

over the video game industry, garnering over 100 million players.

Additionally, the majority of these players were kids, as the simple

mechanics, wide range of character skins, and bright colors made the game

more appealing for minors. Ever since the game became notorious,

children all over the world were playing it with their friends.

Furthermore, many parents are negligent towards their children. Parents

nowadays just give their kids a tablet and access to the internet, leaving

them to do whatever they want. As a result, they become reliant on their

electronic devices, often lashing out when it is taken away from them.

Consequently, when they grow up, they become antisocial and tend to

always stay in their room playing video games, further developing an

addiction.
