Shaping Public Opinion in the Digital Age
The rapid development of computer science and digital technology in the twenty-first
century has completely changed how people communicate and get information. These
days, media—from social media platforms to personal blogs—is a powerful tool for sharing
information and public participation. However, the growing influence of the media brings
the question of how it shapes public opinion. Despite the obvious benefits of the media, I
truly believe that its influence on public opinion is too significant and I will state whether
the media is good or bad while being over public opinion.
First and foremost, people can easily gain their searched information in a short time. By
inserting “how to…, what is…” questions on the internet, millions of results will be shown.
It also depends on what type of question that people ask. Secondly, most of those results
are true and based on specific evidence. Readers or researchers feel assured and want to
use media next time. Lastly, one surprising advantage of it is there are new job fields like
influencers. It requires nothing but your own thoughts and feelings and you can earn
money.
There are several drawbacks such as bad healthcares. Looking at digital screens for a long
time may weaken your eyesight significantly. In addition, people unnecessarily get stressed
on other people’s opinions, not only physically the daily consumers of media get down on
emotion. Eventually, being a highly qualified influencer has to have good devices such as
high resolution camera, microphone, background. Therefore, it costs expensive to start.
