The 21 National President took time to greet and take pictures with sorors at each table in the assembly.
The dynamic speaker for the day was introduced by Soror Catrina R. Waters. Soror Marcia L. Fudge smiled
as she heard all of the accomplishments that were shared to the attendees. Everyone stood as she ap-
proached the podium. Soror Marcia L. Fudge reminded us that we are “Warrior Women” our community
still depends on the “Red and White” to continue to move forward on issues related to education reform,
political awareness, and health care. She stated, “We carry the red and white banner for justice. We have
st
to continue to hold it up!” Once again, every soror was on her feet to applaud the challenge from our 21
National President to continue the movement through a collective vision, a stronger commitment, and
greater service to our community.
Soror Juanita Owes recognized sorors with 25 and 50 years of membership in the sorority as appropriate
plaques and pins were presented by Soror Cassandra E. Brown. In addition to the 25 and 50 year recogni-
tion, Soror Cassandra E. Brown recognized and introduced MAC’s Precious Pearl.
The Precious Pearls, a concept created by the chapter president, are members with 65 or more years in Del-
ta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. The 2020 Precious Pearl represents 72 years of service and sister-
hood. The soror recognized was Annie Jenkins Pringle (Beta Eta Chapter – Spring 1948). The Precious Pearl
was presented with a plaque and a framed portrait. She was elated to receive the recognition, but beamed
with joy as sorors stood to show their love and gratitude for MAC’s Precious Pearl.
Soror Cassandra E. Brown closed out the day by thanking everyone for making this a Founders Day to re-
member. She also thanked and recognized sorors from visiting chapters. Each attendee left the event with
a commemorative reversible umbrella.
