PLAT SINNETS
(he upper right strand around the back, forward between center
strands, down between the first and second strands (from the bot-
tom) and lay beside and below its sister strands in the right-hand
group. Repeat from the beginning.
3008. A SIX-STRAND ELLIPSE. Lead the upper left strand around
back, and bring it forward between the second and third strands
(from the bottom), laying it beside and below its sister strands. Next
lead the right upper strand around back and bring it forward be-
tween the first and second strands from the bottom and lay beside
and below its sister strands. Repeat from the beginning.
3009. An EIGHT-STRAND ELLIPSE. First, lead the left upper strand

around the back and bring it forward between the third and fourth
strands (from the bottom), laying it beside and below its sister
strands. Second, take the right upper strand around the back and
bring it forward between the first and second strands (from the
bottom), laying it beside and below its sister strands. Repeat these
two directions in alternation.
3010. A TEN-STRAND ELLIPSE. First, lead the left upper strand
around the back and bring it forward between the third and fourth
strands (from the bottom), laying it beside and below its sister
strands. Second, take the right upper strand around the back and
bring it forward between the second and third strands (from the
bottom), laying it beside and below its sister strands. Repeat these
two directions alternately until sufficient sinnet has been made.
3011. SIX-STRAND ROUND SINNET, by the SQUARE SINNET method.
Lead the left upper strand around the back, and forward between 30'0
the third and second strands (from the bottom), then down between
the first and second strands (from the bottom) and lay beside and
below its sister strands. Lead the right upper strand around the back
and forward between the first and second strands (from the bottom)
and lay beside and below its sister strands. Repeat from the be-

3012. EIGHT-STRAND ROUND SINNET may be made by the same
method but requires a core. It is impractical unless worked by two
men. Lead the left upper strand back, forward between three and
four, back between two and three, forward between one and two
and down beside and below its sister strands. Lead the upper right
strand similarly but reversely. Method * 302 2 will be found more
satisfactory.
