3002. TWELVE-STRAND SQUARE SINNET is sometimes seen. It bulks
larger than the EIGHT-STRAND SQUARE SINNET, but it is neither so
firm nor so handsome. SIXTEEN-STRAND or even TWENTy-STRAND
SQUARE SINNET can be made if desired, but they have little distinc-
tion. All of these can be made around a core and rolled into a round
form.
To make TWELVE-STRAND SINNET, bring the upper strand of the
right set around back, up between the third and fourth opposing
strands and back into the lower position beside its sister strands. Do
likewise (reversely) with the upper strand of the left set, and repeat
these two operations alternately until the sinnet is the required
length.
3002 3003. The following sinnets through $ 3014 are variations of the
SQUARE method. The first four to be given are ordinarily termed
"HALF ROUND." Unless otherwise noted, the strands are equally
divided, and the directions for the two sides are the same but re-
versed. With six strands lead the upper left strand around back, for-
ward between the opposite bottom and second ~trand and then back,
beside and below its sister strands. Do likewise with the right upper
strand and then repeat from the beginning until sufficient sinnet is
made.
3004. A HALF ROUND SINNET of eight strands. Lead the upper left
strand around the back, then forward between opposite first and sec-
ond strands (counting from the bottom) and place it below its sister
strands. Do similarly with the right upper strand and then repeat
from the beginning.

3005. A HALF ROUND SINNET of ten strands. Lead the upper left
strand around the back, then forward between opposite second and
third strands (from the bottom) and place it below its sister strands.
Do similarly with the right strand and repeat from the beginning.
3006. A HALF ROUND SINNET of eight strands. Lead the upper left
strand around back, forward between the two center right strands,
then down again between the first and second strands (from the
bottom) and lay it beside and below its sister strands in the left-
hand group. Do likewise (reversely) with the upper right strand,
and repeat from the beginning.
3007. An ELLiPSE of eight strands. First, lead the upper left strand
around back, forward between the third and fourth strands (from
the bottom), then down between the second and third strands (from
30 as- :5 006 the bottom) and lay beside and below its sister strands. Second, lead
