City Welcomes New Assistant City Manager
The City of Litchfield Park welcomes new Assistant City
Manager, John Mazza. John replaces Sonny Culbreth, who
has been employed with the City since 1988. Mazza retired
from the Air Force in 2016 after 29 years of service; his
final assignment was Command Chief Master Sergeant of
the 56th Fighter Wing, Luke AFB Arizona where he was
responsible for the training, management, and operations
of more than 3,000 enlisted personnel and their families.
During his military career, Mazza was deployed in support
of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom and
served as Wing Command Chief for the 88th Air Base
Wing at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio. His work includes
various positions within civil engineering and mission
support and he served in several capacities within the
U.S. and abroad. Several times honored, Mazza has
received medals for his service including the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star, the highest of honors
for heroic service in a combat zone. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational
Education from Wayland Baptist University and a Master of Business Administration Degree,
Magna Cum Laude, from Trident University International. Prior to being selected as Litchfield
Park’s Assistant City Manager, John was the Arizona State Director for Railroad and Pipeline
Safety from 2016 – 2018. John says, “The City of Litchfield Park is a fantastic community and I’m
honored to be selected as the next Assistant City Manager. The City Staff is second to none and I look forward
to continuing to provide this community with impeccable service and quality of life events”. John can be
